Police Blotter: $7,000 in Jewelry Stolen from Rosemont Home

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne:

Theft: Jewelry was stolen from a home on the 600 block of N. Ithan Avenue in Rosemont sometime between December 2011 and April 15, police said. The victim last saw the jewelry, worth about $7,000, in a jewelry box in the bedroom, police said. At first the victim thought it had just been misplaced but then realized it was gone, police said. There were no signs of force, and investigation is ongoing, police said.

Underage drinking: Police were investigating an incident at Lancaster and Summit Grove avenues in Bryn Mawr about 1:40 a.m. April 27 when an underage man got involved, police said. Joseph Powden, 20, from Washington, D.C., was charged with underage drinking and carrying false ID.

Public drunkenness: Cody Smith, 22, of the 600 block of Cricket Avenue in Ardmore, was charged with public drunkenness about 2:30 a.m. April 29 in front of , police said.
