Danielle's work has appeared in The News Journal in Wilmington, DE, and in the Times Union in Albany, NY. She spent a week in Shanghai, China, in 2010 reporting for the McClatchy wire service on the struggle facing Chinese charitable organizations.

Danielle is a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and minors in theater, international studies and Spanish (including a semester spent in Salamanca, Spain). In college, she worked for Penn State's independent student newspaper, The Daily Collegian, covering everything from campus administration to crime and courts to the presidential election and financial crisis.

She wrote her thesis for the Schreyer Honors College about how technology has changed the way the media cover wars, and she's excited about the implications changing technologies have for local journalism coverage.

Beliefs

At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible and human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal certain key beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.

This disclosure is not a license for our editors to inject these beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that our beliefs are on the record will force us to be ever mindful to write, report, and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you, the user, ever think you see evidence that we failed in this mission, we wholeheartedly invite you to let us know.

Politics: How would you describe your political beliefs?

I believe it's important to evaluate individual candidates on an issue-by-issue basis.

Religious: How religious would you say you are? Casual, observant, devout, non-religious?

I attended a Catholic high school, but I've never regularly gone to church. I'm open-minded about and respectful of all religions.
