Gladwyne Fire Co. Dispatched in Flipped Boat Incident

A man's canoe flipped on the Schuylkill in the area of River Road on Sunday afternoon.

A . boat was dispatched to River Road about 4:40 p.m. on Sunday for a possible water rescue, according to fire officials.

When firefighters arrived, a man who had started out on the Lower Merion side of the Schuylkill River had fallen out of his canoe, said Assistant Chief John Remillard. The man was not wearing a life preserver. 

The man was able to get to the Whitemarsh Township side of the river, where he was checked on by Whitemarsh Township police, Remillard said. Firefighters said the man did not appear to be injured.
