Hurricane Irene Update for Bryn Mawr, Gladwyne

(Updated 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31) New Gulph Road is closed at Bryn Mawr College, according to a notice from Lower Merion Township sent at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Pennswood Road is still closed between New Gulph Road and Montgomery Avenue, the notice states.

There are 583 PECO customers in Lower Merion who remain without power; the total number of PECO customers without power is 6,500.

(Updated 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31) Conshohocken State Road in Gladwyne is now open between Mill Creek Road and Scott Road, according to a notice from Lower Merion Township sent at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Youngs Ford Road is now open at Monticello Road in Gladwyne, and Lafayette Road in Gladwyne is also open, according to the notice.

Briar Hill Road in Gladwyne is now open, but some cleanup is required.

Morris Road remains closed at Harriton Road in Bryn Mawr, and Pennswood Road is closed between New Gulph Road and Montgomery Avenue, the notice states.

(Updated 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30) Though Lafayette Road in Gladwyne is still closed at a number of locations, it is open south of Conshohocken State Road, according to a notice from Lower Merion Township sent at 7 p.m. Tuesday. 

Morris Road in Bryn Mawr is now open at Caversham Road, the notice states. The Old Gulph Road Ford is also open.

All other major closings noted earlier Tuesday in the Bryn Mawr-Gladwyne area continue, according to the notice.

There are still 1,589 PECO customers in Lower Merion Township without power as of 5:20 p.m. Tuesday; there are 25,000 total PECO customers without power, according to the notice.

Conshohocken State Road is still closed between Mill Creek Road and Scott Road in Gladwyne, according to a notice from Lower Merion Township dated 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Conshohocken State Road is also closed at Barr Lane and at Norsam Road in Gladwyne, and it is suggested that residents use Montgomery Avenue for east-to-west travel through the township, the notice states.

Youngs Ford Road is closed at Monticello Road and at Briar Hill Road in Gladwyne, and Lafayette Road is still closed at a number of locations, where road crews are currently on site, according to the notice.

River Road in Gladwyne is now open.

Morris Road in Bryn Mawr is still closed at Harriton Road and at Caversham Road, according to the notice.

These are the most significant closures; other smaller roads may also still be blocked due to downed trees and wires.

The Old Gulph Road Ford is still closed.
