Bryn Mawr 100 Celebration Planned for September

There are 19 institutions in Bryn Mawr that are more than 100 years old.

There are 19 institutions—businesses, schools and churches—in Bryn Mawr that are more than 100 years old. And on Sept. 10, those institutions will be celebrated in the “Bryn Mawr 100.” 

The celebration’s slogan is “Honoring the Past; Embracing the Future,” according to a release on the Lower Merion Township website.

Over the coming weeks leading up to the celebration, Bryn Mawr-Gladwyne Patch will be bringing you stories profiling the 19 Bryn Mawr 100 institutions.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 10, there will be a number of events, including old-time games, bus tours around town, and a short ceremony to celebrate the century-old institutions at the Bryn Mawr Gazebo. 

There will also be sidewalk sales along Route 30/Lancaster Avenue and the normally scheduled Bryn Mawr Farmers Market.

“This partnership among the Bryn Mawr 100 institutions, the Bryn Mawr Business District and Civic Association as well as Lower Merion Township, the Historical Society and Lower Merion Conservancy begins a wonderful new tradition in our village,” Commissioner Scott Zelov, Bryn Mawr Commissioner and member of the Bryn Mawr 100 Committee, said in a statement on the Lower Merion Township website. “As additional locations reach their 100-year mark, we will gladly welcome them as part of our Bryn Mawr 100 group.”
