'Shiverfest' Coming Saturday, Rain or Shine

The Halloween-themed event runs from 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Riverbend Environmental Education Center, 1950 Spring Mill Road in Gladwyne.

Trick-or-treating, pumpkin decorating, pony rides, a birds-of-prey show, a moon bounce and haunted trails are among the activities happening Saturday at Shiverfest, a Halloween-themed event held at Riverbend Environmental Education Center in Gladwyne and sponsored in part by the Philadelphia Eagles.

The sixth annual event runs from 4-9 p.m. Saturday at 1950 Spring Mill Road in Gladwyne. Advance ticket sales have closed, but $15 tickets will be available at the door. Children 3 and younger enter free.

Fresh local food from Philly's Farm Truck and beer from Victory Brewing Company will be available to buy.

The event is Riverbend's largest fundraiser of the year. Families and businesses can support the center by becoming sponsors at various levels.

Shiverfest will be taking place rain or shine, organizers say. On Saturday, Riverbend will maintain an up-to-the-minute map and activity schedule at http://www.riverbendeec.org/news/special.html, adjusting it if the weather requires.
