Bonnie Cosaro has had a life worthy of its own novel. She has been an opera singer, starred opposite of Paul Newman on the big screen and has rubbed elbows with major Hollywood players. But today Cosaro lives a sweeter if not calmer life in Villanova, where she makes about a thousand cookies every day. The stolen items include a wedding band and engagement ring valued at $80,000 and two $15,000 handbags.
Nearly $500,000 in jewelry and handbags were stolen from a Villanova home on March 23, Lower Merion police said at a Monday briefing. The burglary occurred Saturday evening on the 700 block of Canterbury Lane in Villanova between 6:30 and 9:50 p.m., at which point the homeowners returned to find their front door unlocked and a rear kitchen sliding glass door removed, police said. Most rooms in the house were ransacked. According to the report, some of the items taken include: The total loss is estimated at $495,000, police said. Police searched the house and the surrounding area with a police dog. The investigation is ongoing.

Bryn Mawr Patch editor finally gets a peek at an intriguing Villanova property.
For years I have caught glimpses of a property sitting behind walls at the corner of North Spring Mill and Old Gulph roads in Villanova. I finally got the chance to interview the owner, architect FL Bissinger (coming soon... an article on Bissinger). The property now contains what was the "lodge" and the stables/carriage house of an estate that was called Briar Crest.

Home Sales in Villanova increased in February compared with the same month in 2012, according to a Prudential Fox and Roach HomeExpert Report. Five properties were sold in Villanova last month, which is an increase of 150 percent over February 2012 when 2 were sold. The prior year that number was 7. Take a look at the three most expensive homes currently on the market in Villanova. The median price of properties that did sell last month increased by 17.6 percent from $840,000 to $987,500. In February, 2011, that number was $890,000. The average days that a home was the market almost doubled from 72 last February to 135 days. In 2011 that number was 175.
