Gladwyne Library Renovations: What Do You Think?

Lower Merion Commissioners are set to discuss proposed renovations at Gladwyne and Ardmore libraries, after talks were tabled at last week's meeting for lack of information about the projects. The proposed renovations at Gladwyne Library would cost the township roughly $1.5 million, the most expensive component of which would be the installation of an exterior elevator. Future of Gladwyne Library Renovations Uncertain

Concerns have been expressed about the cost and necessity of adding an elevator.

An agenda item about renovating Gladwyne and Ardmore libraries simultaneously was tabled early Thursday morning for lack of information about the projects. Three Gladwyne residents spoke out against the proposed $1.4 million renovations, the most expensive of which would be the installation of an elevator. Though no one objected to the elevator on the basis of accessibility, there were concerns about what how the installation of an elevator would affect cost, the historical nature of the building and parking.
