Merion Station Man Dies in Bala Cynwyd Car Crash

A second man in the car was injured Saturday morning, police said.

A Merion Station man was killed and a Narberth man was injured early Saturday morning in a one-car accident on Rock Hill Road in Bala Cynwyd, Lower Merion police said. About 2 a.m., Jason K. Dubin, 27, of the 500 block of Revere Road in Merion Station was driving west on Rock Hill Road with Nicholas Tropea, 22, of the 1000 block of Montgomery Avenue in the car, police said. Police believe the car was traveling at high speed when it struck a utility pole on the right side of the road. Dubin was pronounced dead at the scene. Tropea was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The impact damaged a power transformer on the pole, and Rock Hill Road was to be closed until repairs are…

Merion Station Home Gutted By Fire

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries, according to Lower Merion Deputy Fire Marshal Jim McCoy.

Update 11:42 a.m.: The fire has been controlled, but the home has been seriously damaged. Lower Merion Deputy Fire Marshal Jim McCoy tells Patch: Update 11:23 a.m.: Per county dispatch radio, the fire has been declared under control. Update 11:15 a.m.: Bryn Mawr Fire Company has been called in, too. Update 10:20 a.m.: Firefighters are still working to put out the fire as the whole neighborhood fills with smoke. Companies include Belmont Hills, Narberth, Union and Gladwyne, Narberth ambulance, Lower Merion police and fire command. Merion Avenue is closed from City Avenue. 9:30 a.m.: Firefighters arrived at 545 Greystone Road in Merion Station about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday for a house on fire, according to Montgomery County dispatch. …
