DUI Checkpoints in Lower Merion This Weekend

Checkpoints and roving patrols will be on the lookout for impaired drivers.

Lower Merion Township Police will be conducting impaired driving checkpoints and roving patrols throughout the township from Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28. The initiative "is in partnership with a national impaired driving crackdown featuring intensified, highly visible enforcement activities," according to the township. Sobriety checkpoints stop vehicles at a selected location to determine whether motorists are operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. Roving patrols look out for drivers under the influence as they patrol the township's roads. The sobriety checkpoint is being funded by a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation grant.
