Haverford Pain Management Clinic Raided by FBI

The agency declined to comment on the nature of the investigation.

The FBI, with an assist from Haverford Township Police, conducted a raid of Comprehensive Pain Consultants Wednesday morning, multiple sources are reporting. The 574 W. Lancaster Avenue health care provider specializes in pain management. According to Philly.com, Haverford Police were not involved in the investigation, but were at the facility yesterday to support the agency. The FBI declined to comment on the nature of the investigation. Main Line Media News is reporting that, according to a source at the scene, the raid began no later than 9 a.m. Jan. 16, and involved agents carrying boxes out of the office and into a truck that was parked in the rear of the building. Philly Mag Ranks Main Line High Schools

A Philadelphia school takes the No. 1 spot in this year’s Philadelphia Magazine rankings.

Philadelphia Magazine is in newsstands and online with its Best High Schools issue. This year, Philadelphia’s Masterman took the top spot. Including Masterman - a highly selective magnet school - with general enrollment public schools skews ratings a bit. This is why other 'rankings' like Newsweek separate magnet from non-magnet schools. Masterman SHOULD have very high rankings as they are educating only the most motivated, gifted students. Cabbie Slashes Rival's Tires While Passengers Wait, Police Say

The confrontation began in Haverford and ended in Bryn Mawr. One man is charged with multiple offenses.

A cab driver upset about losing a fare followed his rival from Lower Merion's Haverford section to Bryn Mawr before slashing two of the other car's tires while passengers sat inside, Lower Merion police said Monday. A group of people hailed a cab at Lancaster Avenue and Buck Lane about 12:50 a.m. Friday, and two taxis from different companies responded at about the same time, police said. One driver cut in front of the other, trying to stop him from picking up the passengers, but he was unsuccessful. The two drivers argued before the full cab left, heading west on Lancaster Avenue. The other driver followed to Ithan Avenue, where both cabs stopped and the jilted driver got out. He used a knife to slash both passenger side tires, then left …

From Wynnewood to Hollywood: Lower Merion in Film

Movies that were filmed in, or feature, Lower Merion locales.

Lower Merion has been buzzing with movie stars lately: Colin Farrell and Terrence Howard filmed in Merion on May 31 for the upcoming film Dead Man Down, and last year, James Van Der Beek filmed in Ardmore, Haverford and Bryn Mawr for his role in Backwards, written by and starring Haverford native Sarah Megan Thomas. In light of Lower Merion's recent encounters with the rich and famous, we've compiled a list of movies that were filmed in Lower Merion Township. Parts of Unbreakable were filmed on Cynwyd Road in Bala Cynwyd. It was the "rain scene" and after hours of setting up the equipment to produce the rain, Shamayalan did not think there was enough water and he wound up holding a hose. Also, I don't buy kisses . . . showed the Bala movie theater, with Jason Alexander sitting on the curb on Bala Avenue.   more ›
