Gladwyne Home Prices, Sales Up in First Quarter

Both home sales and prices increased over last year.

Home sales in Gladwyne increased from 10 to 14 in the first quarter of 2013 compared with the same time period in 2012, according to a Prudential Fox and Roach HomeExpert Report. It signifies a 40 percent increase. Seven and 4 homes were sold during the first quarter of 2011 and 2010, respectively, signaling a steady growth in that market. The median price of properties that did sell in the first quarter also grew by about 40 percent from $750,000 last year to $925,000 this year. In 2011 and 2010 the median price of sold properties was $900,000 and $665,000, respectively, according to the report. Gladwyne Woman Dies at 92

Remembering residents from the Greater Philadelphia Area who have passed on.

Anne Gallagher, minister at Our Mother of Good Council Parish in Bryn Mawr, died at 90. Margaret Lindsey, of Bryn Mawr, died at 85.  Marjorie Rita McGranahan, of Bryn Mawr, died at 73. Beverly Schiffrin, of Gladwyne, died at 92. H. Graham Dripps, of Gladwyne, died on April 17. Ralph Floranz Moriarty, of Gladwyne, died at 92.  Jess Otley Jr., of Gladwyne Presbyterian Church, died at 84. The following obituaries come from around Greater Philadelphia.

There are five fireplaces in the house. The original home was built in 1710, but has been built on over the years. It appeared in Architecture magazine in 1928.

Gladwyne Home Sales Slow in March

Home sales in Gladwyne stayed the same in March compared with the same month in 2012, according to a Prudential Fox and Roach HomeExpert Report. Two properties were sold in Gladwyne last month, which is the same as in March 2012. The prior year that number was 4. The median price of properties that did sell last month dropped by 15.6 percent from $1,146,250 to $967,500. In March, 2011, that number was $1,007,500. The average days that a home was the market decreased from 198 last March to 62 days. In 2011 that number was 92.
