The Bryn Mawr home break-in took place between 2 and 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
A burglary took place in the 800 block of Castlefinn Lane in Bryn Mawr on Tuesday, Feb. 26. The break-in took place between 2 and 3:15 p.m. The home's front door was forced in, and numerous items of jewelry were taken, according to Radnor Township police. Castlefinn Lane connects Bryn Mawr Avenue and South Roberts Road. Witnesses report seeing a white, four-door sedan, possibly a Honda product in the area prior to the burglary. Two homes in Lower Merion's Villanova section were burglarized in the same manner in the past week, township police said Monday. A home on the 500 block of Spruce Lane was struck between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. The homeowner awoke Wednesday, noticed the basement light was unexpectedly on, then went to investigate and found a 60-inch television worth $7,000 was missing, police said. Also among the items taken: a laptop, a computer monitor, an Xbox 360, Xbox controllers and games, DVDs, an iPod Touch and $800 in cash. On Tuesday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne: Burglary: There was an attempted burglary on the 1600 block of Old Gulph Road in Villanova between 9 p.m. Feb. 10 and 1 a.m. Feb. 11, police said. There was force to a window, but entry was not gained, police said, adding it appears a dog scared off the burglar. Public drunkenness: Police said they observed a drunken man near Bryn Mawr Court Apartments about 1:15 a.m. Feb. 18. Robert Sprotte, 26, of the 100 block of Hampton Road in Garden City, NY, was arrested and charged with public drunkenness, police said. The burglary occurred on the 400 block of Clairemont Road.
Homeowners on the 400 block of Clairemont Road in Villanova heard their garage door being opened about 12:30 a.m. Feb. 14, Lower Merion police said. When they looked outside, they saw an about 5-foot-10 black man in his mid-20s in their car in the driveway, police said. The man was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, police said. The homeowners yelled at the man, who then ran off, police said. The man did not enter the house, and nothing was stolen.

On Tuesday afternoon, Lower Merion Township police reported to news media incidents from the past week in Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne: Burglary: A homeowner from the 1200 block of Ridgewood Avenue in Bryn Mawr came home about 1:10 p.m. Friday and found an unfamiliar man in her kitchen, police said. She fled the house and called police, and soon the burglar drove away in a gold Mercury sedan. Officers gave chase but lost the car in Bala Cynwyd, police said. On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week: Burglary: A homeowner interrupted a burglary about 11:21 a.m. Dec. 2 on the 1400 block of Wesleys Run Road in Gladwyne. The homeowner was home at the time and heard a loud banging, police said. The homeowner then observed a black male in his 20s, about 5-foot, 8-inches tall with a stocky build, run from the second floor. A second man in his 20s, about 5-foot, 8-inches tall and about 150 lbs. then also ran from the second floor, police said.
