Fireworks Displays, Red Light Camera Discussion Ahead this Week

Happy Monday, Bryn Mawr. Here are five things you need to know to make it through the week.

Below is a quick preview of what's ahead in Lower Merion Township and Narberth this coming week. If we missed anything, which is a distinct possibility, let us know in the comments below.

  • On July 2 at 6 p.m., a range of consequential subjects wil be covered at the Lower Merion Township Police Committee meeting. The board will consider approving the promotion of a Sergeant, hear the results of a deer culling report conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, discuss a pair of parking resolutions, and watch a presentation from the superintendent of police on the controversial red light camera program.
  • Come prepared to raise your voice and lower your inhibitions. On July 3 at 7 p.m., the Bryn Mawr Film Institute is hosting an Annie singalong. As the Institute is advertising, follow the spunky young redhead from her “hard-knock life” at the orphanage to a mansion as she searches for her real parents.
  • On July 4, The Neighborhood Club is sponsoring its annual Independence Day celebration. The parade features neighborhood kids iding decorated bicycles, clowns, jugglers, stilt walkers, floats, fire trucks, police, and public officials. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. and ends at the Bala Cynwyd Playground around 10:15 a.m.
  • Also on the holiday, The Penn Wynne Civic Association is hosting its 70th Anniversary 4th of July Parade and Carnival. Festivities begin at the Penn Wynne Fire House (1440 Manoa Rd) at 9:30 a.m. and the parade starts at 10 a.m. Be sure to swing by Penn Wynne Park too, where a carnival featuring music, food, pony rides, a moon bounce, and maybe a few things for the kids too, will be held. For more info, see the event website here.
  • Also on the Fourth of July, a handful of local municipalities, including Narberth, are hosting fireworks displays. For more details on where you can see the sparks fly, see our preview here.
