SEPTA Philabundance Bus to Stop in Bryn Mawr

SEPTA's specially wrapped Philabundance bus will stop at the Bryn Mawr Regional Rail Station next Wednesday, June 13 from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

SEPTA’s specially wrapped Philabundance bus will stop at SEPTA Regional Rail stations and transportation centers throughout the greater Philadelphia region, collecting donations of canned and boxed foods for SEPTA’s fourth annual “Stop Hunger at Your Station” drive.

The drive, which supports Philabundance and its agencies, runs now through June 15.

  • Tuesday, June 5: Media Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 a.m. and 69th Street Transportation Center, 3:30-6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 6: Warminster Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 a.m., and Olney Transportation Center, 3:30-6 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 7: Cornwell Heights Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 a.m., and Overbrook Regional Rail Station, 3:30-6 p.m.
  • Friday, June 8: Lansdale Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 a.m., and Jenkintown Regional Rail Station, 3:30-6 p.m.
  • Monday, June 11: Fern Rock Transportation Center, 6:30-9 a.m., and Fort Washington Regional Rail Station, 3:30-6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 12: Chester Transportation Center, 6:30-9 a.m., and Swarthmore Regional Rail Station, 3:30-6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 13: Frankford Transportation Center, 6:30-9 a.m., and , 3:30-6 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 14: Norristown Transportation Center, 6:30-9 a.m. and 3:30-6 p.m.

The bus will be in regular service for passengers on the Routes 17 and G on Saturday, June 9, and on the Routes 21 and 52 on Sunday, June 10.

Customers can also drop off donations of canned and boxed goods in marked barrels at 45 designated locations throughout the transit system (a list of locations can be found at www.septa.org/events/philabundance.html). CCT customers wishing to participate will be able to give their canned good contributions to their vehicle operator.

Philabundance is especially in need of:

  • Canned or shelf stabilized tuna
  • Canned pasta
  • Canned beef ravioli
  • Creamy peanut butter (plastic containers only, please)
  • Jelly (plastic containers only, please)
  • Cereal
  • Oatmeal

The public can make a donation to Philabundance online to help feed neighbors in need. Any monetary contribution will count toward the total collected through the SEPTA 2012 campaign.

In 2011, SEPTA’s customers and employees contributed almost 17.8 tons of food.

Philabundance is the largest hunger-relief organization in the Delaware Valley, serving nine counties and feeding 65,000 people every week. In 2011, Philabundance distributed 19 million pounds of food in its service area and an additional two million pounds to other area food banks.
