Devon Horse Show Donates $402,000 to Bryn Mawr Hospital

Most of the record-breaking donation is going to two new recliner chair bays for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.

The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair donated $402,000 this year to , where they held a Friday night reception to celebrate the gift.

This year's donation is funding a number of projects, including two new recliner chair bays—as opposed to flat beds—for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, a pediatric anesthesia monitoring and gas system (which was used for the first time Friday) and an ultrasound machine.

The new bays will help accommodate the Cardiac Cath Lab's increasing patient volumes, Dr. Antonis Pratsos, director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, said in a press release issued by the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair.

"We are now using radial (wrist) access for more than half of our patients undergoing cardiac catheterization for elective and emergent stent procedures," Pratsos said in the release. "This allows rapid patient ambulation and discharge, increased patient comfort and minimizes risk of bleeding."

The radial lounge will give patients the feeling of what life will be like once they're discharged.

"It will help develop the lab in a way that we can help more patients in the least invasive way," Pratsos said at the reception. "It's all about efficiency and quality of care with low complication rates... It's an overall better experience."
