- Accomplishment: Kyle won honorable mention in the Gladwyne Library League's annual Junior Author Contest for a fictional story he wrote called "Doodle King."

Kyle's story is about a boy in detention who begins drawing to pass the time and then gets sucked into his drawing. The boy makes a friend, and then they encounter an evil guy who tries to erase everybody, he said.

"Their weapons are basically erasers," said Kyle, adding he would like to be a cartoonist or an author/illustrator when he grows up.

- Key to awesomeness: In addition to writing, Kyle has an interest in drawing, and he drew all the pictures to accompany the story he wrote.

"I usually doodle a lot in school, and I can't really help it," Kyle said. "I’m not really sure why, just 'cause it’s fun, and I usually do it a  lot. I like it because there’s really no limits, and you can do whatever you want in it--in drawing."

Kyle is an advanced blue belt in karate, which he picked up because he was interested in how the different moves and punches worked, and he plays the trumpet and the piano.

Kyle also has some advice for other kids: "If they’re going to pick a hobby, it would be something that they’re good at and at they like, because you don’t want to have a hobby that you’re not good at and that you don’t like."
