Harriton Football Notes: Diminutive Halfback Keys Rams Success

Mighty mite Eric Korn has made a big difference for the Rams.

coach Matt Barr likes feisty, bareknuckle kind of players. And perhaps no player embodies that better than junior Eric Korn.

He’s pintsized, by today’s high school football standards, at 5-foot-7, 160 pounds, but he’s also unrelenting and determined. He’s been a nice factor in the Rams’ 3-2 start, leading Harriton in both tackling and rushing.

"I don’t think Eric has ever lost a yard; he has great leg drive and he’s tenacious," Barr said. "Eric is a tough kid. That’s what I like about a football player, players like Eric are helping us. We’re being successful because of players like Eric, Ryan Kelly, Pat Moriarty and Juwan Valentine [who’s had 28 catches for over 500 yards in the Rams’ first four games this season].

"We knew Eric was tough. He got a lot of minutes as a sophomore. What we didn’t know is that he would be as tough a runner as he is. He’s been a standout in every single game we’ve played, and he’s one of the better two-way players in the Central League. Eric has a great attitude, he has fun when he plays, and he listens."
