Baldwin School Names New Squash Director

Jamie Macaulay recently coached The Haverford School's Middle School squash program to the Division 1 National Championship.

Jamie Macaulay has been named the new Director of Squash at the Baldwin School. He comes to Baldwin after having just recently coached The Haverford School’s Middle School squash program to the Division 1 National Championship. Jamie has more than 10 years of experience as a squash coach. Prior to Haverford, he was the co-founder and head coach of Scozzie Squash from 2011-13. Scozzie Squash is an elite player development academy for boys and girls. Additionally, Jamie served as a Squash Professional coach at the Fairmount Athletic Club in King of Prussia from 2010-12, where he directed private and small group squash and fitness lessons. He has volunteered at the SquashSmarts Urban Program, where he created and delivered the Mid-Atlantic Coaching Course level 1. He introduced squash to beginning youth players, directed individual lessons, and raised money for new programs and staff hires. 

“We are very excited to have Jamie join our Baldwin Athletic Staff,” said Deborah A. Surgi, CAA, director of athletics at The Baldwin School. “Jamie will bring energy, entrepreneurial ideas, and squash expertise with a team building attitude.”

Jamie graduated from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Jamie retained the #1 collegiate spot at Heriot Watt University for three years and was a three-time runner-up at the Scottish National Intercollegiate Championships. While a student-athlete at the university level, Jamie also served as a squash coach at both the Abercorn Sports Club and Giffnock Squash Club in Scotland.

Jamie has six years of professional squash playing experience. He played for Scotland during the European and World Team Championships from 2006-11. He played on the PSA Tour from 2007-12 and attained a highest world ranking of 189. He achieved a highest national ranking of #2 as a junior player and #4 in the Scottish national rankings. He accomplished more than 60 representative honors for Scotland at the junior and senior level in European and World Championships. He played in the US Open in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Jamie will be Baldwin's Varsity Squash Head Coach and oversee the operations of the entire school squash program from the Lower School level to Upper School. He will direct camps, clinics, and private and group lessons for the school community.
