Population Dips in Bryn Mawr

Lower Merion similarly sees population decline.

Bryn Mawr's population decreased 13.76 percent over the past 10 years, with Lower Merion Township dropping as well, according to data released Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The overall Bryn Mawr population is listed at 3,779--down 603 since 2000. Similarly, totals have declined in Lower Merion Township, but not at the same clip. There are 3.38 percent fewer people in 2010, with the population at 57,825.

In Bryn Mawr, both the white and African American population declined since 2000. Though slight, more Asian and Hispanic residents reported living in Bryn Mawr in 2010.

In Montgomery County, the population rose 6.6 percent, while in Pennsylvania it rose 3.4 percent.
