One Book Program to Host Author Who Escaped the Taliban

Part of the Lower Merion Library System's One Book program, the author of "A Rope and a Prayer" will speak on March 20.

New York Times investigative reporter David Rohde was on assignment in Afghanistan in November 2008 when members of the terrorist organization captured him and held him hostage for seven months.

Rohde co-authored A Rope and a Prayer: A Kidnapping from Two Sides about his experience, and as a part of the Lower Merion Library System's One Book program, Rohde will speak at the Lower Merion Township Administration Building on March 20. See information from the township press release below.

"The Lower Merion Library System (LMLS) is pleased to announce that another One Book program has been scheduled. On Sunday, March 20 at 2 p.m., authors David Rohde and Kristen Mulvihill will discuss their recently published book, A Rope and a Prayer: A Kidnapping from Two Sides.

"This riveting story details Rohde's capture by the Taliban, Mulvihill's efforts to obtain his release, and his incredible escape. Rohde is a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for The New York Times and this suspenseful tale will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

"The March 20 presentation will be held in the Board Room of the Township Administration Building, 75 East Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore as the keynote event of the seventh season of One Book One Lower Merion. Books will be available for purchase and signing by the authors. Seating is limited, so this free event will be on a first-come, first-served basis; no tickets or reservations are necessary. Parking is available in the east lot adjacent to the Township Administration Building.
