No Trash Drop-offs at Lower Merion Station During Renovation

New scales are being installed.

Lower Merion Township's waste transfer station in Penn Valley will be closed Monday and Tuesday as crews begin replacing scales, a process that will require the township to restrict access throughout the month of April, spokeswoman Brenda Viola announced Monday.

The station at 1300 N. Woodbine Ave. is typically open 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Through Friday, April 29, however, residents will not be able to dispose of garbage there.

Access to the mulch area will not be curtailed, nor will the disposal of recyclables, leaves and brush.

Good news for landscapers and haulers from the Montgomery County Waste System Authority, according to the township: they'll have full transfer-station access throughout the scale-replacement project.

“We apologize for the inconvenience to our residents, but look forward to being able to better serve our citizens with the new scale and updated technology," said Joe Przybyszewski, the department's supervisor of refuse and recycling.
