Monday is Last Day to Register to Vote in Primary Election

In order to vote in the May 17 primary, you must be on the rolls by the close of business on April 18.

In addition to Monday being the last day to on time—extended by three days from the traditional April 15 deadline—it is also the last day to register to vote in the May 17 primary.

In Lower Merion, only one seat is being contested in the primary for the township’s Board of Commissioners. Board President Liz Rogan, seeking a third term representing Ward 7, is being challenged by fellow Democrat Harold Erfer. Republican Beth Ladenheim will face the winner in the November general election.

In Pennsylvania, only voters registered as a Democrat or a Republican can vote in the primary election. Voters registered as Independent can only vote on ballot questions.

At the county level, among 10 elected positions on the primary ballot, only one will decide who will move on to the general election: the GOP choice for Montgomery County sheriff. Republicans will choose between Eileen Whalon Behr and Robert J. Durante to decide who faces Democrat William A. Holt, Jr. in November.

Monday is also the deadline changing one’s party affiliation and notifying a change of address.
