How Radnor Saw Election Day

Radnor voters came out in impressive numbers.

Radnor Township saw a high voter turn out on Tuesday.

The unofficial results from Delaware County, with all machines reported, show Radnor voters casting 7,152 votes for the Obama/Biden ticket and 6,222 for challengers Romney/Ryan. Votes were also cast for the Libertarian and Green parties’ candidates.

Throughout the day some Democratic and Republican supporters expressed hope, but also caution and nervousness, about their presidential candidate’s odds at winning. As the evening progressed, the crowd of Democrats at The Radnor Hotel grew louder and more confident while the Republican gathering at the Great American Pub dissipated.

Anecdotally, people said there was not as much enthusiasm or lines as in the 2008 election. But the supposed voting enthusiasm gap proved to not be there as Radnor voters came out in impressive numbers.

Ian Pollack, a Radnor High School student and first-time voter, said he was always planning to vote as soon as he turned 18, and his eligible friends were all planning to as well. He said he based his decision on the presidential debates and outside research, but that his choice was “pretty easy” to make.

Republican Rich Booker said early Tuesday that a Romney victory was possible, but told Radnor Patch that if the Republican challenger was not successful it will have been because he said he did not attack the president more on the Benghazi issue.

Sam, do you know where online we can find specific results for our wards and precincts?

They do not post them on the county web site, but as soon as I can get them from our local parties I will run an article on Patch. Thanks!

Radnor is more Democratic leaning than the overall population of the USA. In Radnor Obama garnered 53.5% of the vote while nationally he had 51.1%. Guess this explains the support for the exploding tax increases we have been and continue to see from the School Board and the Township Commissioners. Oh boy.....
