Gladwyne Homeowner in Tree-Cutting Controversy Withdraws Permit Request

Lower Merion officials said they continue to discuss how to bolster a steep slope on the Monk Road property.

A Gladwyne homeowner, chastised by the Lower Merion Board of Commissioners for without township permission, has withdrawn his request for a permit to do further yard work that would include planting 189 trees.

Board President Liz Rogan made the announcement at Wednesday's board meeting. Commissioner Phil Rosenzweig emphasized that planning would continue for bolstering the steep slope where the trees were removed at 1500 Monk Road.

Officials fear an erosion hazard if a strong storm comes through.
