Three Burglaries Reported Saturday in Merion

Homes were ransacked, and a cell phone and jewelry taken, police said.

Three burglaries occurred Saturday in the Merion section of the township, Lower Merion Police said.

A home on the 500 block of Oak Road was burglarized sometime between noon and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. A first-floor bathroom window was forced open, and the home was ransacked, but apparently nothing was missing, police said.

There were also two burglaries on Iona Avenue, police said. The first occurred between 6:45 and 11:10 p.m. After what police said appeared to be an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry through a first-floor window, a door was forced. A cell phone and jewelry were taken.

Police conducting a neighborhood search following the discovery of the Iona burglary found that a second home on Iona Avenue had been burglarized. The home had been unoccupied since May 1. The kitchen door was forced open, police said, and the home had been ransacked. An accounting of what was taken is pending the homeowner's return.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to contact Lower Merion Township Police at 610-649-1000.
