You may not know that the fire companies in our area consist mostly of volunteers; of men and women who may be lawyers, police officers or electricians.

Meet the Gladywyne Fire Chief

Gladywne Fire Co. is always looking for people to become members of the company. Currently the company has 3 full-time paid employees and 37 volunteers. There are also opportunities for those who want to get involved but do not want to fight fires.

The company even offers a live-in program for volunteers.

According to the fire company, the member benefits are:

• Life Insurance Policy
  This policy provides coverage to firefighters whether they are injured on a call or are injured off-duty.
• Credit Union
  Eligibility to join the Philadelphia branch of the Police and Fire Federal Credit Union. This opportunity is open to members of the Gladwyne Fire Company and their families.
• Emergency Training and Opportunity for Specialization
  Standard National training in Interior and Exterior Firefighting Techniques, Swift Water Rescue, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Regular Seminars from Veteran NYFD, Philadelphia Fire Department.

• Gym Membership Reimbursement
  Firefighting is tough work. You have to be in top physical shape. The Gladwyne Fire Company believes in providing their firefighters with all the tools necessary to do their job.
