Report: Man Shot Driving on City Avenue

The victim told police he drove himself to Tacony after he was shot.

A 23-year-old Philadelphia man is in serious condition after he was shot while driving along City Avenue early Monday morning, 6abc.com is reporting.

According to Action News, the victim told police that a man opened fire on him at 12:37 a.m. near the intersection of City and Belmont avenues.

After the shooting, the victim drove himself to a gas station in Tacony, where he called police and was taken to Aria Health Torresdale to be treated for a gunshot wound, according to the report.

Philadelphia Police are investigating the incident and Lower Merion Police don't appear to be involved. While a call to the township was not immediately returned, Lower Merion Police officer Anthony Morello said on Monday afternoon that he had no knowledge of the shooting and thought it was unlikely the township was aiding in the investigation.
