Police: Two Burglaries Attempted in Merion

The would-be burglar was unable to gain entry to either home, police said.

Two burglaries were attempted Thursday at the Edgehiil Court Apartments in Merion, Lower Merion Township Police said Wednesday.

A man was asleep inside his apartment at 25 Old Lancaster Road around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was awoken by loud banging on his front door, police said.

The deadbolt fell from the door to the ground as a result of the banging, and the resident yelled out, scaring away the would-be burglar, police said.

When Lower Merion Police were investigating the burglary attempt at the Edgehill Court Apartments, they noticed pry marks on another door.

In each case, no entry to the apartments was gained.
