Police ID Woman Found Dead in River

The woman was found by parkgoers early Sunday morning at Flat Rock Park.

Updated 5:28 p.m.: The woman whose minivan was has been identified as 44-year-old Arlene Rossi, Lower Merion Police Supt. Michael McGrath said on Monday.

The Bridgeport woman's family has been notified, McGrath said.

At 7:05 a.m. Sunday, parkgoers at  noticed a van partially underwater off the Flat Rock boat ramp, according to Lower Merion police. Rescue crews were able to remove the woman from the vehicle, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. She was determined to be the only occupant of the silver Mazda.

The incident is still under investigation, McGrath said.

Montgomery County Coroner Walter I. Hofman told the Main Line Times that the cause of death was drowning and that it was self-induced in manner; the vehicle had no prior damage.
