Police Blotter: Two Charged with Public Drunkenness

Police reported last week's crimes Monday afternoon.

Lower Merion Township police reported last week's crimes and incidents Monday afternoon, May 23, in a weekly briefing to news media.

Public drunkenness: Police said at 2:18 a.m. May 18 a man hanging on a pole outside Kelly’s in Bryn Mawr flagged down a police car as if it were a taxi, and then stumbled toward the car. Police said the man was intoxicated to a degree he was a danger to himself, and the man was transported to Bryn Mawr Hospital for treatment. Jonathan Toroni, 21, of the 1200 block of Lancaster Avenue in Berwyn, was cited with public drunkenness, police said.

Public drunkenness: Police said they observed a man shove another man, attempt to run away and fall at about 1:25 a.m. May 19 on the 1000 block of W. Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr. Police stopped the man, and the man who had been pushed said they were friends and were just messing around. Police said that man was allowed to leave and that the man who shoved the other was arrested because of his intoxicated state. Police charged Taylor Dodge, 21, a Villanova student, with public drunkenness.

Theft: Craftsman-brand tools were stolen sometime between May 1 and May 6 from a toolbox in an unlocked garage on the 1700 block of Riverview Road in Gladwyne, police said. The theft was reported May 16.
