Police Blotter: Three Public Intoxication Incidents Over New Year's Weekend

Lower Merion Township police reported to news media the following crimes and incidents from the Bryn Mawr-Gladwyne Patch area in the past week:

Public drunkenness: Police observed a man sleeping on W. Lancaster Avenue at Roberts Road in Bryn Mawr at 3:27 a.m. Dec. 28. Officers were concerned for the man because of the cold weather and were unable to wake him at first. When he was woken up, he refused transport to the hospital and was taken back to police headquarters for his own safety, police said. Christian Purcell, 21, of West Chester, was charged with public drunkenness.

Public drunkenness: Five people were arrested and charged with public drunkenness at 2:17 a.m. Jan. 1 after police observed them crossing the train tracks at . When first stopped, they gave false names, police said. Matthew Caverly, 22, of Downingtown; Christopher Crawford, 21, of Exton; Rosemary Daddona, 20, of Springfield; Amanda Giordano, 19, of Springfield; and Michael Yeager, 20, of Chester Springs, were charged with simple trespass, police said. Daddona, Giordano and Yeager were also charged with underage drinking, police said.

Public drunkenness: Police said they observed a man sitting on the 700 block of Spring Mill Road in Villanova at about 1 a.m. Jan. 1. He told police he was at a party in the area before he tried to walk home and became tired, and police said he was arrested for his own safety. Spencer Hassan, 18, of Newtown Square, was charged with public drunkenness and underage drinking.
