Police Blotter: Three Charged with Public Drunkenness on Lancaster Avenue

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

The Lower Merion Police Department's weekly media briefing Monday afternoon included information on the following incidents in the Bryn Mawr-Gladwyne area:

Public drunkenness: Police said they observed a woman walking down the double yellow lines in the middle of the 900 block of W. Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr at about 2 a.m. July 29. When police approached the woman, she asked why they were bothering her, police said. Police said the woman admitted to drinking that night and registered a .14 on a preliminary breathalyzer test. The woman, police said, was arrested for her own safety. Betsy Cashman, 20, of Arlington Heights, Ill., was charged with public drunkenness and underage drinking, police said.

Public drunkenness: Police said they saw a man walking by himself on Lancaster Avenue near Roberts Road at about 2 a.m. July 30. Police said the man, Andrew Porter, 25, of the 300 block of N. Ithan Avenue, could not stand up by himself was issued a citation for public drunkenness.

Public drunkenness: Police said they observed a man staggering down the street on the 1200 block of W. Lancaster Avenue in Rosemont. Police said the man was under the influence of alcohol to the point he was a danger to himself. Christopher Jordan, 22, of Holland, Mich., was cited with public drunkenness, police said.
