Police Blotter: Thefts, Underages, Public Drunkenness

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne:

Theft from building: Sometime between Aug. 30 and 6:30 a.m. Sept. 4, $367 was stolen from a safe at the Medical Center, police said. The safe was locked, and there are no suspects in the incident, police said.

Theft from building: A $492 caramel-colored cashmere sweater was stolen from in Bryn Mawr at about 5:35 p.m. Sept. 4, police said.

Underage drinking, disorderly conduct: Two 20-year-old men, one from Blue Bell, PA, and one from San Diego, CA, were charged with disorderly conduct about 1:51 a.m. Sept. 5 after police were called to the 800 block of Montgomery Avenue on a report of loud music. The 20-year-old from Blue Bell was also charged with underage drinking, police said. Both men are Villanova students, police said.

Underage drinking, disorderly conduct: A 20-year-old from Roslyn Heights, NY, a 19-year-old from Staten Island, NY, and a 19-year-old from Pittsburgh were issued citations for underage drinking and disorderly conduct at about 12:20 a.m. Sept. 5 on the 800 block of Montgomery Avenue in Bryn Mawr, police said.

Theft from building: A 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro, valued at $1,300, and a 16G Apple iPhone 4S, valued at $700, were stolen from a library sometime between 11:45 and 11:50 a.m. Sept. 4, police said. A student was studying at a table in the library between 9:45 and 11:45 a.m., police said. The student then left to use the ladies’ room, about 25 feet from the table, and when she returned at 11:50 discovered her computer and iPhone missing. No one was seen taking the items, police said. 

Public drunkenness: A 21-year-old woman from Shelton, CT, was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after a police officer observed the woman urinating on the 900 block of Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr at 1:35 a.m. Sept. 7, police said. The woman ran from the officer before eventually stopping, police said.

Underage, public drunkenness: A 19-year-old man from Syracuse, NY, was cited for underage drinking, public drunkenness and carrying false ID after police observed the man vomiting several times in the area of Erin Pub, police said.
