Police Blotter: Thefts from Harcum Dorm, Shipley Dance; Public Drunkenness

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne:

Theft from building: Shoes, clothes, an iPod and cash were stolen from an unlocked dorm room in Pennswood Hall at , police said. The theft occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. March 9 and 4 p.m. March 12, police said. The stolen items were valued at about $200.

Public drunkenness: Two students were arrested and charged with public drunkenness after police observed them staggering near Lancaster and Warner avenues about 2:30 a.m. March 16, police said. Joseph Miata, 21, of the unit block of Anna Place in Baldwin, NY, and Hayley Sullivan, 21, of the 13000 block of Pierce Road in Saratoga, CA, were charged with public drunkenness and released, police said.

Theft: An iPhone was stolen at the during a school dance between 10 and 11 p.m. March 16, police said. The victim was chaperoning the dance and had left the phone in a jacket while it was being charged, and the cord was visible, police said. The phone was valued at $400.

Public drunkenness: Police received a call for a suspicious person in the drive-thru of in Rosemont about 3:30 a.m. March 17, police said. The man, walking, was trying to solicit money from cars in the drive-thru lane, police said. Gavin Waring, 22, of the 100 block of Shallow Springs Court in Exton, was charged with public drunkenness, police said.
