Police Blotter: Thefts, Burglaries Continue

The following information was supplied by the Lower Merion Township Police Department on Monday, June 6.

Lower Merion Township police reported last week's crimes and incidents Monday afternoon, June 6, in a weekly briefing to news media.

Theft: Copper gutters were stolen from Saunders Woods in Gladwyne sometime between April 30 and May 31, police said. Police said the manager of the preserve noticed the copper downspouts and reported 60 feet of them were missing from the barn.

Theft: A 9-foot by 5-foot banner was stolen overnight between May 31 and June 1 from the 800 block of Summit Grove Avenue in Bryn Mawr, police said. The banner read “Spring Fling” and was worth about $400, police said.

Theft: A wallet containing cash and credit cards was reported stolen from the Bryn Mawr Car Wash on May 31, police said. A security camera reveals a customer taking an employee’s wallet, which had been left on a table. Police were unable to identify a suspect.

Theft: Police said a GPS unit was stolen from a vehicle parked on Maplecrest Circle in Gladwyne overnight between June 2 and 3. Police said a township trash collector noticed the driver’s side window smashed out, and the resident noticed the TomTom GPS, valued at $175, was missing.

Theft: Police said a bag containing medical supplies was stolen from a 2000 Honda Civic parked on the 1200 block of W. Lancaster Avenue in Rosemont between 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. June 3. Police said the victim was in a restaurant and noticed the right rear passenger window was smashed in upon returning to the car. Police said the bag contained medical supplies, including a blood pressure cuff, and was worth about $150. 

Burglary: Police said $150,000 in jewelry was stolen from a residence on the unit block of Conshohocken State Road in Gladwyne, in a late reported theft. Police said the homeowner discovered a significant amount of jewelry missing and looked for several days to be sure it had not been misplaced before reporting it to police June 2. Police said the jewelry was stolen within the last two months.
