Police Blotter: Simple Assault, Burglary and Public Intoxication in Bryn Mawr

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following Bryn Mawr-area crimes and incidents from the past week:

Burglary: A burglary was reported from the unit block of S. Warner Ave. in Bryn Mawr sometime between 7 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Aug. 17. Police said the homeowner was at work and came home to find the front door was able to be pushed open even though it was locked. The burglar entered the residence by pushing an air conditioning unit into the house, police said, and a change jar was stolen.

Public Intoxication: Police said two people were observed walking along Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr “acting suspiciously” at about 10 p.m. Aug. 19. Police said the two were staggering and having trouble walking. When police approached the man and woman, the man became aggressive and yelled, police said. Police said the two were intoxicated to the degree they were a danger to themselves and others. Katie Neumann, 22, of the 200 block of Hansell Road in Newtown Square, and Travis Parker, 22, of the 500 block of Dayton Road in Bryn Mawr, were charged with public intoxication, police said.

Simple Assault: Police said an officer was waved down by a victim of simple assault at about 1:39 a.m. Aug. 21 on Thomas Avenue near Lancaster Avenue. The victim said he was approached by a group of unknown men and was punched in the face for no known reason, police said. The men then took off, and police were unable to locate them.
