Police Blotter: Public Intoxication, Underage Drinking, False ID and Theft

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following crimes and incidents from the past week:

Public Intoxication: Police said they found a man lying on the sidewalk near the stairs of Lot 7 in Bryn Mawr at 1:50 a.m. Aug. 23. Police helped the man, a Villanova student, to his feet and he still had trouble standing, police said. Oliver Herder, 20, of Keswick, VA, was issued citations for public intoxication and underage drinking, police said.

Public Intoxication: Police said they responded to Matsonford and Old Gulph Roads in Villanova at 3:13 a.m. Aug. 23 on a report that two men were running from Upper Merion Township. Police said they found a man with small abrasions on his face and knees and it was determined he was intoxicated to a degree he was a danger to himself, police said. John Dickmann, 18, of Portsmith, RI, and a Villanova student, was issued citations for public intoxication and underage drinking, police said.

Underage Drinking: Police were called to an apartment on the 800 block of Montgomery Avenue in Bryn Mawr at 4:05 a.m. Aug. 24 on a report of a fight and loud music. When police arrived, they did not find a fight but did hear loud music. Villanova students Patrick Heitmann, 20, Robert Margolis, 20, and William Morrell, 20, all residents of the apartment were issued citations for underage drinking, police said. Timothy Murray, 21, also a Villanova student and resident of the apartment, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct, police said.

False Identification: Police said they observed a man attempting to enter in Bryn Mawr at 1:21 a.m. Aug. 26 and get turned away. Police cited Patrick Marrah, 20, of St. Michaels, MD, with trying to use a fake I.D.

Theft: A credit card was reported stolen Aug. 27 from . Police said the credit card was stolen from an employee’s purse in an office of the respiratory unit Aug. 21. The card was used several times for a total of $304 before it was discovered it was missing, police said.
