Police Blotter: House Burglarized, Manhole Covers Stolen in Villanova

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne:

Burglary: A home on the 1500 block of Willowbrook Lane in Villanova was burglarized sometime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. April 17, police said. Stolen were an iPod, a 55-inch TV, a MacBook, Kindle and turntable mixer. Police said a locked side door had been forced open, which caused damage to a wall. There was some ransacking discovered inside, police said. Nobody was seen or heard, police said. Total value of items stolen was about $2,000, police said.

Theft: Two cast-iron manhole covers were stolen overnight between April 19 and 20 from Spring Mill Lane and Fairview Road, police said.  The manhole covers weigh between 40 and 50 pounds, police said.

Public intoxication: Police responded to at 4:03 p.m. April 21 on a report of a person causing a disturbance, police said. William Davis, 32, from the 800 block of Martin Avenue in Bryn Mawr, was arrested and charged with public intoxication, police said; his blood-alcohol content was .32, police said.
