Police Blotter: Homeowner Interrupts Gladwyne Burglary; Public Drunkenness in Bryn Mawr

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following incidents from the past week:

Burglary: A homeowner interrupted a burglary about 11:21 a.m. Dec. 2 on the 1400 block of Wesleys Run Road in Gladwyne. The homeowner was home at the time and heard a loud banging, police said. The homeowner then observed a black male in his 20s, about 5-foot, 8-inches tall with a stocky build, run from the second floor. A second man in his 20s, about 5-foot, 8-inches tall and about 150 lbs. then also ran from the second floor, police said. Police determined the men had forced their way in through the living room door. Nothing was stolen, police said. 

Public Drunkenness: Police said they observed a man walking eastbound on Lancaster Avenue near Merion Avenue in Bryn Mawr at 2:20 a.m. Nov. 29, and said he was staggering. Police stopped the man to check on his condition and found he had several forms of identification, all of which were fake. Police said the man’s blood-alcohol breath test level was a .24. Joseph Hartunian, 20, of Delmar, N.Y., was charged with public drunkenness, possession of alcohol and possession of false identification, police said.

Public Drunkenness: Police said a man attempted to pick a fight with bouncers at at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 3 after a bouncer had told the man he would not be allowed in.  The bouncer told the man, Christopher Catarino, 21, of East Brunswick, N.J., he would not be allowed in after he was observed cutting in line, police said. Officers observed Catarino trying to start a fight with bouncers and intervened, police said. Catarino was arrested and was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct, police said.

Public Drunkenness: Police responded to a report of a suspicious man at the intersection of Conshohocken State Road and Waverly Road in Gladwyne at 2:29 a.m. Dec. 4. Police said the man told them he was walking to Narberth, but he was walking toward Conshohocken. Police said the man’s blood-alcohol level was a .13. The man, Joseph Barton, 18, of the 900 block of Childs Avenue in Drexel Hill, was charged with public intoxication and underage drinking, police said.
