Police Blotter: DUI in Villanova

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne:

DUI: An officer in a Shipley School parking lot was approached by a motorist about 6:30 p.m. June 3, police said, and was told of a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner. The officer then pursued the vehicle, which was traveling at a high rate of speed and was drifting across the line, police said. The officer caught up with the vehicle at Montgomery Avenue and Matsonford Road in Villanova, police said. The driver smelled strongly of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test, police said, and refused three times to provide a sample for a chemical breath test. Michael Finn, 26, from the 200 block of Gravel Pike in Collegeville, was charged with DUI, police said.
