Police Blotter: Cash Stolen From Lower Merion's Only Bookstore

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Lower Merion Township police reported to news media the following crimes and incidents from the Bryn Mawr-Galdwyne Patch area in the past week:

Retail theft: Shortly before 3 p.m. on Dec. 23, a man entered book store on Franklin Avenue in Bryn Mawr and asked if the store had a certain book. While the cash register was unattended, about $300 was stolen from it. The man was told the store did not carry the book, and he calmly left, police said. The theft was reported shortly after.

Retail theft: On Dec. 22, the AT&T Wireless store on Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr was robbed of an iPhone 4S, worth a reported $650. According to the incident report, one customer came in and bought two phones, while another man stole another, caught on security cameras. It is not yet known if the two men were working together on the crime, though police say an investigation is still underway.

DUI: Kristina Nesson, 43, of the 600 block of Bedrock Road in Coatesville was arrested on Dec. 21 after police said she fled the scene of a “minor” traffic accident in West Conshohocken. Police said a witness followed Nesson by car, but did not elaborate (if Nesson was aware of the pursuit, for instance, or if the witness was speeding and making things more dangerous).

Nesson was arrested at Conshohocken State Road and Norsam Road in Gladwyne at 5:50 p.m. Police said she failed a field sobriety test and, upon arrival at the Lower Merion Police station, was found to have an initial blood-alcohol reading of 0.22.

Public drunkenness, disorderly conduct: A Macungie, Pa. man was detained as a danger to himself at about 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 22 at the  in Bryn Mawr, police said. Christopher Clay, 21, was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after banging on doors and appearing exceedingly drunk, with injuries Clay could not explain, police said. He was turned over to staff at .
