Police Blotter: Burglary, Vandalism, Public Drunkenness

The following information was supplied by the Lower Merion Township Police Department.

Lower Merion Township police reported last week's crimes and incidents Monday afternoon in a weekly briefing to news media.

Burglary: Sometime between Jan. 3 and 4, an unknown amount of cash was stolen from a home’s kitchen on Vaughan Lane in Gladwyne. Police said an unlocked rear door was entered while the homeowner was elsewhere in the house, but the occupant thought it was a family member from next door.

Vandalism, Theft: A home on the 700 block of Woodlea Road in Bryn Mawr was reported vandalized on Jan. 8 when homeowners reported a missing red mailbox flag and a missing “Children At Play” sign, police said.

Public drunkenness: On Jan. 7 at about 1:50 a.m., a man on the 900 block of W. Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr was arrested and charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after he was seen arguing loudly with a woman and trying to get behind the wheel of a car. A police officer on the scene arrested Matthew Carter, 22, of the 200 block of Landover Road in Bryn Mawr.
