Police Blotter: Burglary in Gladwyne, Theft and Public Drunkenness in Bryn Mawr

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following crimes and incidents from the Bryn Mawr-Gladwyne Patch area in the past week:

Public drunkenness: Police responded to a report of a public drunkenness at the at 8:52 a.m. Oct. 12. Police said they observed a man at the north side of the station with a large can of Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Police said Michael Lynch, 55, of the 800 block of Paoli Pike in West Chester, had a blood-alcohol content of .24 and was transported to for treatment. Lynch was charged with public drunkenness, police said. 

Burglary: Police said a home on the 1100 block of Maplecrest Circle in Gladwyne was burglarized between 5 and 7 p.m. Oct. 14. An antique diamond watch and other miscellaneous jewelry, along with more than $1,000 in cash, Prada handbags and wallets were stolen from the residence. Police did not have a total value of the items stolen and said the burglar gained entry through an unlocked door.

Public drunkenness: Police said a man was found sleeping outside the Wawa on Conshohocken State Road in Bala Cynwyd at 4:08 a.m. Oct. 15. Christopher Conicella, 22, of the 300 block of Highland Lane in Bryn Mawr, was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, police said. Police said Conicella had a blood-alcohol content of .18. 

Theft: Police said a 4-foot statue of the Virgin Mary was stolen from the  in Bryn Mawr sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 15. The statue is valued at $200 and was reported missing from the garden on the west side of the church. The statue is estimated to be 2 feet in width and weigh between 75 and 100 lbs. The last time anyone remembers seeing it is Oct. 1, police said.
