Lower Merion Stepping Up Enforcement of Sober Driving Through Labor Day

The last checkpoints were set up at the end of July.

Lower Merion Township announced Wednesday that from Aug. 19 through Sept. 5—Labor Day—police at checkpoints and in roving patrols will test drivers' sobriety.

The effort is part of a national endeavor branded as "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over". A grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is paying for the extra police presence.

The police department conducted a similar  Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31.
