Harriton Student Brought Pot to School, Police Say

Lower Merion Police relayed the following incidents to news media at a Tuesday afternoon briefing. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Drug possession

A Harriton High School student was arrested Feb. 13 after she was found to have marijuana in her possession, police said. School officials contacted Lower Merion police at 10:59 a.m. on Feb. 13 to report that marijuana was found in a search of the 17-year-old student’s bag. Her bag was searched, a school official told police, after a teacher overheard the student saying she was going to bring vodka to school, according to the report.

Underage drinking

An 18-year-old Villanova student was cited for underage drinking after police were called to 333 City Avenue in Bala Cynwyd on report of a possible overdose at 3:15 a.m. Feb. 16, police said. EMS responders were unsuccessful in waking the girl, who was then transported to Lankenau Hospital, where she eventually came to. The 19-year-old student was cited for underage drinking, police said.
