Gladwyne Near Drowning Victim Conscious, Stable

The 40-year-old woman nearly drowned Wednesday, June 29.

The 40-year-old Gladwyne woman who is now conscious and stable, according to Lower Merion Township spokeswoman Brenda Viola.

At about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, the woman's 5-year-old son ran inside the family's house to tell his father that his mother was at the bottom of the pool, Lower Merion Police Lt. Bernard D'Amour said last Thursday.

When Lower Merion Township police and Narberth Ambulance crews arrived at the scene, the father was administering emergency care to his wife with directions from a 9-1-1 operator for Montgomery County. The woman was transported to Lankenau Hospital.

Last Thursday, the woman was in critical but stable condition.
