Gladwyne Fire House Dog Dies

Lucky, the mascot and firehouse dog at the Gladwyne Fire Company, died earlier this week.

Lucky, the mascot and firehouse dog for the Gladwyne Fire Company died earlier this week.  Below is a statement from the fire company.

It is with the most profound sense of regret that the Gladwyne Fire Company announces the death of “Lucky” the firehouse dog. Lucky was laid to rest peacefully in Gladwyne after battling ongoing health issues for the past few months. His best friends from the fire company were by his side until the final moments.

Lucky served as Mascot of the Fire Company for fourteen years. In 2001 Lucky was adopted from the Willing Hearts Dalmatian Rescue in Royersford, Pa. He was a part of our firefighting family and especially known throughout the community. Lucky enjoyed the company of others and loved having residents come and visit with him. Much like our firefighters, Lucky devoted time to the town, leading the way through Gladwyne during the annual Memorial Day Parade. An instant hit with children, Lucky attended hundreds of firehouse birthday parties during his time. A beacon of positive energy, he was an invaluable member of this organization, serving as a colleague and friend.

A temporary memorial has been placed in front of the firehouse on Conshocken State Road. We will truly miss Lucky, but are pleased that he is now at peace and no longer in pain. Lucky will be cremated and his urn will be placed in the Crew Lounge inside the firehouse for all to memorialize.
