Crime Stats: Post-Sandy Run on Police Services

Calls increased significantly after the storm.

Lower Merion police responded to 385 calls the week ending Nov. 4 throughout Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne, up from 249 calls the previous week, department records show.

  • 71 alarm activations
  • 9 animal incidents
  • 1 DUI, Nov. 1 on the 800 block of West Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr
  • 100 electrical/gas/water complaints
  • 5 fires, including two heater/chimney/flue fires Oct. 30 and Nov. 1 in Villanova
  • 3 car crashes with injuries
  • 7 car crashes with property damage
  • 1 citation for public drunkenness
  • 5 thefts
