Cement Truck Brings Down Wires on Summit Grove Avenue

Several emergency crews and PECO responded to make sure it was safe for the driver to get out of the vehicle.

There was a bit of emergency vehicle activity on Bryn Mawr Avenue at the intersection with Summit Grove Avenue this afternoon after a cement truck brought down a telephone wire.

"The cement truck was driving down the street, and it brought down one of the tension wires going across," said Domenick Scardecchio of the . "PECO came out to make sure it was not a hot wire so [the driver] could get out of the vehicle."

The downed wire was a telephone wire, according to PECO, which received the call about the incident at about 4 p.m.

Bryn Mawr Fire crews and Narberth Ambulence left the scene shortly after 4:30 p.m. Lower Merion police remained there, blocking traffic from turning onto Summit Grove Avenue.
